The Finnish website needed adaptation; it could not be just translated.
Website for a stairlift manufacturer to support their local distributor
Stannah Stairlifts is a UK-based stairlift manufacturer. They wanted their website translated from English into Finnish to support their Finnish dealer.
That was a 45,000-word project to start with, which grew with updates, landing pages, campaigns, social media and Facebook copy, and some video subtitles, blog articles, and other marketing-related material.
Tone of voice was adapted for the Finnish market
Finnish website was created based on Stannah’s existing English website. The Finnish distributor reviewed the English website before the translation and noted that it felt too salesy for the Finnish audience.
Since the communication style in Finland is more direct than in the UK, I was asked to adapt the English copy to sound more natural for the Finnish audience. The copy should be sales-focused, but it shouldn’t feel like pushing.
After the work was done, the Finnish distributor checked the copy and was very pleased with the outcome, and the Finnish website was launched as planned on schedule.
